"Battles, battles - how many make a war? And when you have won one, then what have you won?... It is entirely possible to win against the enemy... and still be defeated by the battle."
-The Book of the Dun Cow by Walter Wangerin Jr.
"Daylight... in my mind, the night faded. It was daytime and the neighborhood was busy. Miss Stephanie Crawford crossed the street to tell the latest to Miss Rachel. Miss Maudie bent over her azaleas. It was summertime, and two children scampered down the sidewalk toward a man approaching in the distance. The man waved, and the children raced each other to him.
It was still summertime, and the children came closer. A boy trudged down the sidewalk dragging a fishingpole behind him. A man stood waiting with his hands on his hips. Summertime, and his children played in the front yard with their friend, enacting a strange little drama of their own invention.
It was fall, and his children fought on the sidewalk in front of Mrs. Dubose's. The boy helped his sister to her feet, and they made their way home. Fall, and his children trotted to and fro around the corner, the day's woes and triumphs on their faces. They stopped at an oak tree, delighted, puzzled, apprehensive.
Winter, and his children shivered at the front gate, silhouetted against a blazing house. Winter, and a man walked into the street, dropped his glasses, and shot a dog.
Summer, and he watched his children's heart break. Autumn again, and Boo's children needed him."
-To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee

ok, one more today:
"Who you arespeaks soloudlyI can't hear what you're saying."-Ralph Waldo Emerson
" 'Now, I return to this young fellow. And the communication I have got to make is, that he has great expectations.'
Joe and I gasped, and looked at one another.
'I am instructed to communicate to him,' said Mr Jaggers, throwing his finger at me sideways, 'that he will come into a handsome property. Further, that it is the desire of the present possessor of that property, that he be immediately removed from his present sphere of life and from this place, and be brought up as a gentleman - in a word, as a young fellow of great expectations.' "
-Great Expectations by Charles Dickens
So I said before how I took the entrance exam for a school I want to go to, and my scores (that I said previously, but will repeat:) were 91% in Verbal, 88% in Math, and 82% in Reading. Because those were in the higher end of the spectrum, I've been invited back to take the test for the all 4-year scholarship, called the Headmasters' Scholarship. My oldest sister got it, my second oldest sister got runner-up, soo ya know, NO PRESSURE! lol... yeah, but my Math and Reading scores were higher than the sister who got it, sooo... ;P Yeah. :D I'm taking it this Saturday, so if y'all could pray for me, that would be splendid! I'm not really nervous, amazingly I'm kind of excited!!
And here's the last subject (why do I always have 3?!)-- Every week at Photography class we're supposed to bring in our favorite picture from someone online, in a magazine, etc. So this is mine for this week:
I'm going to ask that we don't have critique on our favorites, just say what we like about them... because (most of them) are professionals, so they know what they're doing, and most of the time if there's something there that you spot that's "wrong", then it's either supposed to be there, or they couldn't possibly get rid of it. (Beka, I liked alot of Sara Rhoads pictures, but there was no way I could get them to bring them in to class/email them, etc. I know you're all crushed up inside ;P lol you probably won't even see this... yeah. well I'm saying thank you for the suggestion and she's a fantastic photographer!! :D)
Alrighty, then! that took me like 6 HOURS to write lol ... :P that's because I stopped to have dinner. yeah, ok, BYE!!!

"I was disconcerted, for I had broken away without quite seeing where I was going to. It was not to be shuffled off, now, however, and I answered, 'The beautiful young lady at Miss Havisham's, and she's more beautiful than anybody ever was, and I admire her dreadfully, and I want to be a gentleman on her account.' Having made this lunatic confession, I began to throw my torn-up grass into the river, as if I had some thoughts of following it.
'Do you want to be a gentleman, to spite her or to gain her over?' Biddy quietly asked me, after a pause.
'I don't know,' I moodily answered.
'Because, if it is to spite her,' Biddy pursued, 'I should think - but you know best - that might be better and more independently done by caring nothing for her words. And if it is to gain her over, I should think - but you know best - she was not worth gaining over.' "

"I knelt a long time, for I had much to offer up to God, and I placed before Him countless thoughts, so that He might winnow them like a thresher, leaving me the wheat and blowing away the chaff with the breath of His mercy."
"Mackenzie, evil is a word we use to describe the absence of Good, just as we use the word darkness to describe the absence of Light or death to describe the absence of Life. Both evil and darkness can only be understood in relation to Light and Good; they do not have any actual existence. I am Light and I am Good. I am Love and there is no darkness in me. Light and Good actually exist. So, removing yourself from me will plunge you into darkness. Declaring independance will result in evil because apart from me, you can only draw upon yourself. That is death because you have seperated yourself from me: Life."
-Sarayu, from The Shack
