(and you hinted that she didn't die. that's cruel) sabina was supposed to die (or atleast be sent away to antarctica to live with ice. and cold stuff.), and alex (loooove) was not supposed to go live with them of all things! pooor alex... :( what happened to the yassen novel? blunt has a wife? (poor wife D: ) alleeeeexxxx!!! mr horowitz you destroyed him!! you killed him!! you're an awful person!!

hamlet review... i suppose...

for my lit class i had to read Hamlet by William Shakespeare... note "i had." i'm going to call this a review: i did not like the book at all. it was kind of awful. hamlet is a total chauvinist, ophelia is a wreck, and claudius is, well, claudius is claudius. i sort of understand ophelia's "turn for the worse" because hamlet literally treats her like trash. but hamlet is trash... so Hamlet is just one big garbage-fest... jkkkk ophelia isn't trash. but claudius (and some would say gertrude, too) definitely is trash. i mean, he murdered his brother so he could steal the throne. come on. D:

so. the plot is very mixed up, the characters are definitely messed up, and the reading is really really hard. i got the half old English, half modern English version, but we were supposed to read the old. yeeeah, it was difficult. the story is very dark, too, if you know how to read between the lines.

if you couldn't quite tell, i'm not a big fan of shakespeare. in fact, i avoid him at all costs. my fam read Romeo and Juliet for shcool last year, but we didn't finish it because of all the bad bad bad "jokes"... ick. i consider him an inappropriate writer.

just my view, tell me whatcha think... i do not recommend Hamlet. (or any shakespeare for that matter, although i have only read 2. so you decide...)

I want a go/no go on Great Expectations?

Sorry, guys, it's a no go :( So Great Expectations was in practically Aztec-ian English and sooooo long, and it is now sitting in the returns bucket at the library. Maybe I'll try and read it again, but for now, it's a no go. I was about half way through, and there was nothing that really struck me that would make it a classic... besides that it was written by Charles Dickens... (btdubs, he is an EcCeNtRiC writer ;P) The beginning was good, but then it was just long. (Why do i keep finding myself quoting Night at the Museum 2? lol) So maybe you should read it. If you can stand endless meaningless monologue and a "forever plot"... so i'm pretending that's my review ;P
Now I need to say farewell b/c my fam is leaving NOW to go to ny b/c my grandpa had quadruple bypass surgery on monday. *prayer, please, for continued healing and NO INFECTIONS!* so i'm gonna try to find The Giver somewhere in this house so i can read it on the 8-ish hour ride! ta-ta!

To Kill A Mockingbird review... sort of

I'm taking a Literature and Writing class and the books we are reading are To Kill A Mockingbird, Hamlet, and the Odyssey. So I just finished To Kill A Mockingbird, and it was AMAZING! I really can't explain it or I'll give it away, but the cover says, "The timeless classic of growing up and the human dignity that unites us all." Aaaand that basically describes it :) So I definitely recommend that everybody reads this book! Well, except for little children... there is some language, but I suppose you could say it's correct in the context... something like that. And there's the whole black v. white deal going on, because it was written in 1960 (but it seems soo modern!). So if you get the chance, I suggest you go get To Kill A Mockingbird from the library, or maybe even buy it ;P Because you'll want to buy it once you read it :) (and has anybody read it so you can help me out-- i don't know what category to put it under in the sidebar... any ideas? ;P)

So I said before how I took the entrance exam for a school I want to go to, and my scores (that I said previously, but will repeat:) were 91% in Verbal, 88% in Math, and 82% in Reading. Because those were in the higher end of the spectrum, I've been invited back to take the test for the all 4-year scholarship, called the Headmasters' Scholarship. My oldest sister got it, my second oldest sister got runner-up, soo ya know, NO PRESSURE! lol... yeah, but my Math and Reading scores were higher than the sister who got it, sooo... ;P Yeah. :D I'm taking it this Saturday, so if y'all could pray for me, that would be splendid! I'm not really nervous, amazingly I'm kind of excited!!

And here's the last subject (why do I always have 3?!)-- Every week at Photography class we're supposed to bring in our favorite picture from someone online, in a magazine, etc. So this is mine for this week:

I'm going to ask that we don't have critique on our favorites, just say what we like about them... because (most of them) are professionals, so they know what they're doing, and most of the time if there's something there that you spot that's "wrong", then it's either supposed to be there, or they couldn't possibly get rid of it. (Beka, I liked alot of Sara Rhoads pictures, but there was no way I could get them to bring them in to class/email them, etc. I know you're all crushed up inside ;P lol you probably won't even see this... yeah. well I'm saying thank you for the suggestion and she's a fantastic photographer!! :D)

3 Things

I Would Die For You, Entrance Exams, and... shoot i forgot the other thing... oh right the SUPER BOWL!

I finished I Would Die For You, and as I have said many times before, it was FABULOUS! it seriously helped me with "dying for your friends", like what that meant etc... yeah, it was a really good book... :

what I wrote- "laying down/sacrificing your life doesn't necessarily mean taking a bullet or anything, it could mean getting bullied, standing up for them and being thought 'weird'." And it's basically the same thing for Jesus, being willing to look "weird" and standing up for Him.

what BJ wrote- " 'Greater love has no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.' This passage has a double meaning. One, that Christ is the ultimate example of love (being that He is God and God is love), and two, that the GREATEST love is to sacrifice yourself for your friends. [When I say love is a verb], this is the action I'm talking about. Not necessarily to literally get killed to save someone, but to lay your life down: to become selfless and act for others instead of yourself, or to devote your life."

So I would DEFINITELY recommend this book.

Entrance Exams... :

They were pretty good... i suppose i would say i'm semi-confident. I knew basically all of the stuff on the test (it's more of an evaluation of your knowledge ;P). The first thing we had to do was write an essay in 25 minutes on whether you agree or disagree with the topic. and the topic sentence was... ready? drum roll please,... "The greatest benefit of education is tolerance." WHAT?!?! how on earth did they expect me to write an essay, in 25 minutes, on THAT?! i literally just sat there for 10 minutes dumbfounded having absolutely NO idea what to write! i finally decided i disagreed with that absurd sentence and wrote about something along the lines of that education doesn't produce a sense of tolerance, but rather an opposition and they (educatees) develop instead a something (haha i can't think of the word...) that they can decide for themselves and make their own decisions. independence, perhaps? ;P it was ridiculous... i ended up scribbling the last 2 paragraphs because i ran out of time. i don't think anyone else had the same sentence as me, because nobody else was making desperate glances or just sitting there with their mouth hanging open...

the section after that was math... ugh i hate math... i just barely marked the last circle when the proctor called time. but all the sections after math i finished with atleast 10 minutes to spare. i practically memorized all the names of the Nazi and WWII books next to me. i think the other guy who finished early probably memorized the ones next to him, too ;P lol...

interaction was... 0. and super awkward. but the rest of the test was semi-easy and dragged on for-eva! but that's my story for part 2 of this post...

i'm actually going to have 2 more short parts (don't worry, this post is almost over ;P).

1st: that night i saw the play The Fantasticks with a bunch of my frien's (at LCA. they have AMAZING plays :] ). it was FANTASTIC!!! sooooo good! and y'all should see it :D

last but NOT least.... the SUPER BOWL!!!!!! WOOHOO! go SAINTS! they won and i was so proud of Drews :D great job guys and now i've gotta go!

histograms, vade mecums, & #70

Hello all dear commenter-

Today in this post I will talk about 3 things: Vade mecums, Histograms, and Post Number 70.

To the FIRST SUBJECT, and most interesting, I suppose...

VADE MECUMS

Hm, that is an unfamiliar noun to you, I presume? Well, for an explanation: A Definition-

va⋅de me⋅cum

–noun, plural va⋅de me⋅cums.

1. something a person carries about for frequent or regular use.

2. a book for ready reference; manual; handbook.

In other words, MY BOOK SITUATION!

So I was reading The Hunchback of Notre-Dame when they decided to start a lengthy debate about how alchemy is correct, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera. I decided that I do not need that junk in my head or in my heart. I know I probably won't even remember a fig of the conversation, but I don't really care because God don't like no alchemy and I don't either! I was about 1/3 through the book and it was rather boring. I WOULD NOT SUGGEST READING THIS BOOK.

As I mentioned before, I am currently reading I Would Die For You by Brent & Deanna Higgins. It is, as I think I mentioned before, FABULOUS! :

And you all should read it! I'm about 1/3 through with that one too.

SECOND SUBJECT: Histograms AND Post Number 70

Book Reviews?

Hmm... I'm thinking I'm gonna start putting reviews on books! there are all these great Christian movie, tv show, and music review websites (pluggedinonline.com is a great one, btw), but i've never seen a book one! and books can be bad, too (trust me, i know). I've read quite a few books... ;P So tell me what you think! I also had an idea that i could have a list of books-to-read and -not-to-read :)

Spiderman 2

two nights ago i watched Spiderman 2 :) haha that was a good movie! and a bad idea-- cuz now i want to watch the other 2!! Has anyone else watched the two episodes of the Philanthropist?? i'm trying to decide whether it's a good show to watch or not... i mean, he helps all those people in other countries but then he turns around and is really selfish an' all... :( taking this all from a Christian point of view, i'm not so sure... but the commercials are cute ;P this guy up there /\ mr peter... he's my new BFF! ;D i have a bunch (lol): Peter Parker, Harry O.(guess! :]), Luke Skywalker, Peter Schock, + Gideon Seymour<3
